Pregnancy/Infant Loss

From the moment a woman learns that she is pregnant, she often starts envisioning her future with a baby. Then, for 20% of the population, the unfathomable happens, their vision is cut short by a devastating miscarriage or stillbirth. Losing a wanted pregnancy or infant can be one of the most emotionally challenging experiences a woman and her partner will ever face. Various feelings such as shock, sadness, anger, and guilt are common and deserve the right attention and care. Many people find their families and friends to be at a loss at how best to support them and can find themselves easily triggered by life around them. Research shows that early professional support can effectively decrease emotional distress, depression, and anxiety in the first year following a miscarriage or stillbirth. I have extensive training and experience supporting women and their partners following pregnancy/infant loss. At the moment it may not seem possible, but you will get through this. Seeking help is the first step.
